The members of Solu ^ Cham confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and setting grant-making policies. In particular, the Members consider how planned activities will contribute to the aims and objectives they have set. There will be no restrictions on future grantmaking through poverty, location ( within Solu Khumbu, Nepal) or lack of entitlement.
All of the work of Solucham contributes to prevention and relief of poverty, directly benefiting those who receive support as well as reducing prevalence of suffering and inequality in society.
Our partnerships and programs support the poorest, most marginalized young people, families and communities, particularly children and families from the mountains, and impoverished rural communities.
We focus on areas where our work can have greatest impact and for those most in need, particularly children from impoverished rural communities in the mountains of Solu Khumbu, Nepal.
We support underfunded primary schools, in rural contexts, improving the quality and reach of education for communities most in need.
We strive at providing practical education and skills for children of the mountain communities, through vocational training, enabling them to find sustainable jobs within their environment in Solu Khumbu, Nepal. Our goal is to manage to keep communities within their prevailing environment in the mountains, by providing them jobs, and thus avoiding rural exodus to the capital.
Advancing education improves knowledge and skills, resulting in improved confidence, employment opportunities and well-being on an individual and family level and impacting positively on socio-economic development on a wider level.
We support health services to reduce illness and disease and reducing the financial burden on families and individuals in accessing health services, in rural areas of the mountains of Solu Khumbu, Nepal.
Our work increasing awareness of healthy living and disease prevention also promotes the request for health services within these mountain communities.
Sustainable community development and active citizenship are also at the heart of our work. By involving and empowering beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders in projects we advance citizenship and encourage and support beneficiaries to become agents of development and change.
We encourage rural communities to remain in their geographical and socio-economic environment by helping at creating sources of revenues as well as improving living conditions through access to health & education services for the most disadvantaged families.
Individuals benefit by becoming key to the process of development whilst wider society benefits through positive transformation of communities and effective solutions to development issues.
We provide social welfare support to these vulnerable groups where existing support services are lacking. The public benefits from the support received through reduction of the burden placed on existing carers and services and by ensuring the well-being of these groups is met.
Our activities incur no harm to any person or persons, we take measures to ensure that this is the case and to protect staff, beneficiaries, the wider community and all stakeholders who are involved with or affected by our work. We utilize risk assessment analysis to identify and mitigate any potential negative consequences related to our work and use this information in the formulation and implementation of our projects and programs. no individuals receive private benefit from the operation of the charity other than incidental benefits through working with our organization.
